Rex books are written almost entirely in CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant). This helps beginning readers practice their decoding skills, which puts them on a path to fluent reading.
Illustrations aid in the visualization of the story, but do not provide clues for the reader. Decoding is a must! There are even some pages without illustrations.
